When these bulbous lights
Sit with me in the dry comfort
Of watching rain
And the China dolls doubled layered
In their glass cabinet window panes
Never change their gaze
Except at night
(no one is around)
When plastic flowers cry real tears
For their own robotic existence
Never feeling birth
Never knowing death
Mickey Mouse's eternal smile
Next to dishes who have no name
Become rebels in their
Tasty demise
Watching rain hit pavement
Frowns hit walls
Cars patiently wonder
How long their owners may be
Peacefully accept there is no defeat
Happily cry there is always love
Come to an understanding
That if we tragically do not meet
The plastic flowers and China dolls
Will awake at night
And rain will fall
And people will watch it.
